Weaving a Sarawakian technological future

Shariman Jamil, a technopreneur and innovator, is crafting Sarawak's Silicon Future. He began his career in Silicon Valley in 2004 as an analogue IC design engineer with Spansion. He played a pivotal role in the evolution of flash memory chips for mobile devices, experiencing firsthand the seismic shifts semiconductors brought to global communication. He continued his odyssey in Tokyo, Penang, and Graz, Austria, the tech epicenters that endowed him with invaluable insights into energy-efficient electronics.

 

Shariman returned to Sarawak in 2020 and worked with the Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, where he meticulously laid the groundwork for Sarawak's ascent in the semiconductor arena, culminating in the founding of SMD Semiconductor in 2022. His vision goes beyond chip design; he aspires to create a holistic semiconductor ecosystem—a "Sarawak Silicon Longhouse" that blends Sarawak's communal ethos with cutting-edge technology, fostering an environment where innovation flourishes and local talent can shine on the global stage.

Shahril Anas Hasan Aziz brings over 20 years of expertise in investment management and fundraising, contributing his deep knowledge of venture capital and strategic partnerships. He joined Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd (MAVCAP) in 2015, focusing on establishing Corporate Funds on Funds and forging partnerships that enhance funding opportunities for technology-driven companies. His career spans key roles at Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Malaysia Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), and Unit Peneraju Bumiputera (TERAJU). Shahril also drives strategic initiatives and oversees high-impact projects, leveraging his extensive expertise in investment and technology ecosystems.

Hazuwani carries with her more than 15 years of experience in human capital across various industries, including forestry, medical, oil and gas, technology, and construction. She has worked with several government-owned companies in Sarawak, such as Sarawak Forestry Corporation, Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Medical Centre (Normah Medical Specialist Centre), Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad and Borneo Development Corporation (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd.

Hazuwani has profound interest in culture transformation and employee experience journey. And she has tapped into her knowledge in all aspects of human resources and administration, including policy development, management, procurement, and office administration.


With over 20 years of diverse experience across various sectors within the Sarawak government, Aminah Mahran has developed a versatile skill set that includes deep industry insights and market understanding, as well as being able to ensure high service standards and customer satisfaction.

Aminah is also proficient in quality management, driving operational excellence and ensuring continuous improvement. Her active involvement in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) underscores her commitment to social and environmental causes. This involvement highlights her holistic approach towards responsible business practices, emphasising the importance of community engagement and sustainable development.
