KUCHING, March 3 (Bernama) SMD Semiconductor successfully showcased its latest semiconductor innovations at MWC Barcelona 2025, held from March3 to 6 at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via.

SMD said in a statement today that the live demonstration of ‘Ultra Edge Power Converter’ prototype was an answer to the current artificial intelligence (AI)revolution, where AI is transforming industries worldwide “These new advancements bring both opportunities and challenges on one of the pressing issues of the growing strain on data centre availability and grid energy management,” it said.

Additionally, SMD announced the official launch of the Sarawak Semiconductor Roadmap 2030 – Beyond Moore’s Law, a strategic roadmap designed to drive technological advancement, enhance supply chain resilience and elevate Sarawak’s semiconductor sector on the global stage.

“It provides a comprehensive framework to spur innovation, bolster domestic manufacturing the company engaged with global industry leaders, potential partners, and key stakeholders, reinforcing its role in driving advancements in semiconductor technology.

The event brought together thousands of attendees, including top executives and innovators from the mobile and connectivity sectors.

This year’s MWC Barcelona, themed ‘Converge. Connect. Create.’, focused on the transformative impact of 5G, AI and the Internet of Things (IoT) on the future of connectivity.
